The Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai Campus, is a premier institution dedicated to maritime education and research. Established in 2008 by an Act of Parliament, IMU is a Central University under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India. The Chennai campus, formerly the National Maritime Academy, is one of its five constituent colleges. Admission to its undergraduate programs, such as B.Tech Marine Engineering and B.Sc Nautical Science, primarily requires a valid rank in the IMU Common Entrance Test (IMU CET). For most undergraduate courses, candidates must have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in their 12th standard, along with at least 50% marks in English. The campus offers a wide array of programs including B.Tech in Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering, B.Sc in Nautical Science, MBA in Port & Shipping Management, and M.Tech in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering.
