The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a highly competitive, computer-based entrance examination conducted annually by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) on a rotational basis. It serves as a prerequisite for admission to postgraduate management programs (MBA/PGDM) offered by the 21 IIMs and numerous other top-tier business schools across India. Eligibility typically requires a Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates), with no age limit. The exam pattern comprises three timed sections: Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA), with a total duration of 120 minutes. Key subjects tested include English comprehension, logical reasoning, data interpretation, and quantitative aptitude. Over 100 institutes accept CAT scores, with approximately 19,000-20,000 seats available across the IIMs alone. The official website for information and application is iimcat.ac.in.
