The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) - Computer Science and Information Technology is a highly competitive national-level examination in India. Jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on a rotational basis, GATE scores are crucial for admissions to postgraduate engineering programs (M.Tech/M.E./Ph.D.) at top institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIITs, and for recruitment by various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Eligibility typically requires candidates to be in their final year or have completed a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field, with no upper age limit. The exam is a 3-hour Computer-Based Test (CBT) comprising 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. It includes General Aptitude (15 marks) and subject-specific questions (85 marks) covering core CSE topics such as Data Structures, Algorithms, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Database Management Systems, and Theory of Computation.
