The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced), commonly known as JEE Advanced, is a highly competitive national-level engineering entrance examination in India. It is conducted annually by one of the seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on a rotational basis, under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB). Eligibility for JEE Advanced requires candidates to be among the top 2,50,000 qualifiers of JEE Main. Candidates must have appeared for their 12th standard examination for the first time in either the preceding or current year. The exam pattern consists of two compulsory papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, each of three hours duration. Both papers test candidates on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, featuring a mix of multiple-choice and numerical answer type questions with varying marking schemes and negative marking. JEE Advanced serves as the gateway for admission to undergraduate programs across the 23 prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), offering approximately 18,000 seats. The official website for information and application is typically hosted under the jeeadv.ac.in domain, updated annually.
