The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and Joint Entrance Examination (Main) Paper 2 are crucial entrance examinations for admission to undergraduate architecture (B.Arch) and planning (B.Planning) programs in India. NATA, conducted by the Council of Architecture (CoA), assesses a candidate's aptitude for architecture through drawing, observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity, and critical thinking. JEE Main Paper 2, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), includes sections on Mathematics, Aptitude, and a Drawing Test. Eligibility for both generally requires 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or a 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics, with a minimum aggregate of 50%. NATA is accepted by most private and state-funded architecture colleges, while JEE Main Paper 2 scores are primarily used for admissions to NITs, SPAs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions. Both exams are typically 3 hours long, testing a blend of analytical, mathematical, and creative skills essential for an architectural career.
