The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), commonly known as NEET-UG, is the sole entrance examination for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH (BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS), and other undergraduate medical courses in India. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), it is a highly competitive exam. Candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31st of the admission year and have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English, with specific minimum aggregate marks. The exam is a single paper comprising 200 multiple-choice questions (180 to be attempted) from Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology, totaling 720 marks. The duration is 3 hours and 20 minutes. Each correct answer fetches 4 marks, while an incorrect one incurs a penalty of 1 mark. NEET-UG facilitates admissions to over 1 lakh MBBS and 25,000+ BDS seats across numerous government and private medical and dental colleges nationwide.
